Preschool

Claire's last day of preschool holding her diploma!

So, I have so many posts to catch up on its not even funny. I don't think I will ever get to them. 6 months worth is a lot! Anyhow, you gotta start somewhere so I thought I would post a couple pictures of Claire's last day of preschool.
This year I did preschool with some other moms in my neighborhood and ward. Their were 6 kids including Claire. The kids in the picture from left to right, Natalie, Lily, Isaac, and Claire. Two boys (Kade and Mitchel) didn't show up for the last day, which was at my house, so they missed out on the fun. We played games, decorated cupcakes, made little individual pizza's and they each got a diploma. Claire had a good time in the preschool but I personally don't know if I want to do it again. I just found that most the time Claire would learn a lot from the times when preschool was at my house and 1 other moms house and then the others seemed to slack a lot. It's just hard when you plan and put a lot of effort into something and the other moms just let the kids play the whole time. I decided that this next year I will do my own preschool with Claire and then just try and plan more play dates. I just feel like next time I would rather do a play group than a preschool, because in the end, that's what most of the moms did and it was frustrating. Does this make sense to anyone or do I just sound stupid. I know social stuff is way more important at this age, but that's not what this group was!! It was supposed to be a preschool, not a playgroup. OK, I am done ranting.
Claire still had fun and although I wish I could put her in a real preschool next year, I just cannot afford it. It's so expensive and I would rather use that money on buying her books, crafts and taking her to fun places, and doing the whole thing myself. We will see though. It is going to be hard having 3 kids at home this fall.

i know exactly what you mean about preschool. it's just way too expensive!
although, the mom's i've done preschool with for the past two years are freaking awesome! BUT i had a nice little "learning experience" a few months ago. There was one mom that joined this year back in october. and she always would cancel (for nothing, basically) and then when she DID do preschool, it was a playdate. and it drove me bananas. so one day i said something. big mistake. all of the sudden i was a drama queen and she quit preschool cause she couldn't handle all this drama...lalalala. i called her to apologize for offending her- not my intent, and all she did was tell me how "pissed off" she was. it was downright ridiculous. not to mention she goes to the same ward so we saw each other often....ugh! she eventually moved due to hubby's job, so I lucked out!
it can get so frustrating, I know. but it's for Lydia, and she loved it.

congrats on baby #3!
i just can't bring myself to do it yet!

I understand that that would be frustrating. I'm thinking about doing a co-op preschool. I know the other mom's I'm thinking of doing it with would be awesome so I don't that we'd have problems. When are you due?

That preschool drama does not sound dumb! I had the same issues! I did the same thing with Brighton this year with some moms in the wards and half of them didn't do anything while the kids were at their house! It was not worth another year to me! Luckily, preschool is relatively cheap here, so she'll just do that next year, but good luck with doing it on your own! I'm sure it'll be great and you'll be a great teacher! Oh and P.S. Congrats on baby #3! You guys are going to be outnumbered soon! yikes!
