I didn't want to post a blog about this because I didn't want to embarrass myself by saying I was going to do something and then later on give up, but I figure If I write about it, maybe I will stick to my goal. So, here goes, Cory and I are planning on doing a triathalon sprint. Cory came up with the idea, convincing me by telling me that we are not getting any younger. I have been needing to get into shape, real bad. My body hasn't quite recovered from having Claire, and even if I dont finish the race, at leaste I will be getting into shape.
Just a little background info.... I have never run a complete mile before( that I can remeber). In high school, P.E. I got a 8 minute mile once... but I cheated and only did 3 laps instead of 4... So not really a mile. All the other times I ran, I would stop when I got tired. So, this can give you an idea about the type of person I am.. whats the right word... maybe lazy?
So this might be a challenge for me, but so far so good. Cory and I have been running in our neighborhood and in the first week I was up to two miles. It might be a slow mile, but I am running the whole time and after the second mile I could have kept going but I was bored. The biking part will be the easiest, but I have a cruiser style bike and it just will not do. So maybe I can get a new bike or borrow someone elses. The swim kinda scares me but not really. I am just so scared that after the bike ride my legs will feel like jello and I wont beable to finish. No... you know what, I WILL finish, even if I come in last place, following a 60 year old woman....I will finish I SAY!
Want to know more about the race? Click HERE. and then click on course. I will be doing the smaller one. First I start out swimming. We have to swim 500 yards.. which is somewhere around 1/2 mile I think... Then on to the biking. We bike 12 miles. Last is the run, just a 5K - 3 miles. So what do you think? The race is August 8, do you think that is enough time for me to train for it?

How exciting Ashleigh! You are inspiring me to want to do something like this now. Yes, you can do it! Especially since it sounds like you've already been doing a lot of training with running. You're awesome Ash! Best of luck, but you really don't need it. You'll do great!
definitely enough time to train for it! just make sure to practice your transitions-- like do a little bit of each in one day. Some swimming, some biking and then some running. I know when I did my first triathlon the transition from biking to running was the hardest. But it only feels hard for the first few minutes as your legs get in the groove of running....you will be fine! Just keep practicing!
Way to go! That is one of my life's goals, right now we are just sticking to running a 10k in July. And I've never been much of a runner either so I don't have too many tips for you sorry...you definitetly have enough time to train for it, good luck!!!
Your inspiring. Maybe someday this will be on my list. I don't know. It is nice to have a goal though.
